ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Beth Prins is an accomplished pianist, singer, and director. She received her B.M. from Houghton College and her Master's from Westminster Choir College. She has performed as a pianist in both Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. She has also worked and sung with several well-known directors, including Robert Shaw. She taught for many years at Hackensack Christian School before starting the NJHSA music program. The NJHSA Chorus was formed in 1993. They met every other week in the Prins' basement during '93-'94, and performed at Graduation and in the first NJHSA Jr. High/High School musical, "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown." In 1994, Mrs. Prins started the Ensemble as a group directed towards some of her more musical students. She has continued directing the Chorus and Ensemble along with the musicals "Hannah", "Joseph", and "Fiddler On The Roof" for the past six years. The Chorale (a.k.a. Ensemble) and Concert Choir (a.k.a. Chorus) have competed in the American Association of Christian Schools' annual competitions at both state and national levels. In addition to these groups, Mrs. Prins directs the 2-year-old Mens' Ensemble and organized but does not direct the 3-year-old Girls' Ensemble. She now also teaches Music Skills for both NJHSA and Heritage Christian students along with teaching piano and homeschooling her five children (four of which are involved in NJHSA choral groups). We are so thankful that God has gifted her so lavishly and has given her to us for our director! WE LOVE YOU, MRS. PRINS!
